Laboratory in Animal Training

The field of behavior analysis is built on a small number of fundamental principles of behavior. Many of these principles were examined and outlined by B. F. Skinner. The overall purpose of this course is to examine in-depth topics of behavior analysis while giving students more hands on education beyond textbooks. We will study these principles by studying the behavior of either your pet fish or dogs in a shelter environment. General topics to be covered include but are not limited to: observation of animal behavior in applied/basic settings, assessment of inter-observer agreement, data graphing and analysis, reinforcer assessment, and task analysis. Having a strong ability to think about behavior using these principles will help you to succeed as a behavior analyst.
